If you searched prop firms with no activation fee, you are trying to avoid a one-time unlock fee after you pass the evaluation. On Alpha Futures the next stage is a Qualified Account on simulated funds in a simulated trading environment. Once you become a Qualified Trader, you may request performance fees under published rules. Performance fees are performance-based. Nothing is guaranteed.
Short answer: no activation fee means you are not charged a one-time unlock fee to open the Qualified Account. It does not mean the evaluation is free. Monthly evaluation fees, resets, and data costs can still apply.
On Alpha Futures, checked on the activation fee help article and the live How it works cards:
- Zero is $0 activation, permanently. The plan is named for that fee.
- Accounts purchased after 8 July 2026 do not require an activation fee.
- Direct is a one-time purchase. There is no monthly evaluation fee and no separate activation charge after a pass, because there is no evaluation to pass.
Live prices sit on How Alpha Futures works. Confirm checkout before you pay. This page is about cost structure, not a race to the lowest monthly number. For that comparison, use Cheapest futures prop firm 2026.
Activation fee vs the rest of the bill
Cost | What it is | Still there if activation is $0? |
|---|---|---|
Activation fee | One-time charge after you pass, to open the Qualified Account | No, on Alpha Futures purchases after 8 July 2026. Zero was already $0. |
Monthly evaluation fee | Recurring fee while the evaluation is active | Yes, on Zero, Standard, and Advanced |
Reset | Fee to restart after a breach, where the plan offers it | Yes. Plan-specific. Zero resets are $79, $119, and $249 on the help centre. |
Direct purchase | One-time price. You skip the evaluation. | Different model. Not monthly plus activation. |
If a firm advertises no activation fee and hides a large monthly fee, or a reset that costs as much as a new evaluation, you did not find a cheap firm. You found a different invoice.
How Alpha Futures prices this now
Live plans are Zero, Standard, Direct, and Advanced. Premium is discontinued. Do not buy anything sold as Premium.
Zero
No activation fee. Monthly evaluation fees on the Zero account overview and the live cards, at full price: 25K $89/month, 50K $139/month, 100K $279/month. One-step evaluation. Daily Loss Guard applies ($500, $1,000, and $2,000). No consistency rule on the evaluation. 40% consistency on Zero Qualified Accounts between performance fee requests.
Standard
Standard is back as a live plan, with no activation fee on the Standard account overview and the live pricing page. Monthly fees: 50K $129, 100K $239, 150K $349. To pass, you hit the profit target and a 50% consistency rule. There is no Daily Loss Guard on the Standard evaluation. Qualified Standard accounts publish a Daily Loss Guard ($1,000, $2,000, and $3,000) and 40% consistency between performance fee requests. Targets and contract caps differ from Zero. Read Standard plan is back rather than an old Premium table.
Advanced
No activation fee on purchases after 8 July 2026. The help centre still describes the older $149 Advanced activation fee, and that charge does not apply to purchases after the announcement. Monthly fees are higher than Zero at the same account size: 50K $209, 100K $349, 150K $489. The maximum performance fee request on Advanced Qualified Accounts is $15,000. No Daily Loss Guard on the evaluation or the Qualified Account. 40% consistency on the evaluation only. No consistency rule once qualified. Source: Advanced account overview.
Direct
You skip the evaluation. You pay a one-time fee and start on a Qualified Account with a withdrawal profit target and a 20% consistency rule. That one-time fee is not an activation charge after you pass. It is the product. Live one-time prices on How it works: 25K $349, 50K $519, 100K $689, 150K $859. There is no monthly subscription. See Introducing Alpha Futures Direct and the Direct account overview.

What no activation does not buy you
- It does not remove the profit target or the Maximum Loss Limit
- It does not make performance fees automatic
- It does not mean you can size NQ as if the stop were a micro
- It does not replace the rules
You still trade a simulated evaluation account, unless you buy Direct and start on a Qualified Account. If you pass, you may request performance fees under that plan's gates: winning days on Zero, Standard, and Advanced, or Direct's withdrawal profit target, plus caps and consistency where they apply. Details: Alpha Futures performance fee rules. Eligible requests are processed in five business days or less after standard approval, according to the latest operational update How fast performance fees are processed is the longer comparison.
How to compare no-activation firms without getting played
- Activation after the pass: $0 or not, and on which plans?
- Monthly while you evaluate: still the large number for futures.
- Reset: can turn a cheap entry into a second evaluation.
- Qualified rules: consistency, news, Daily Loss Guard, contract caps. Cheap to enter and expensive to keep is a trap.
- Platforms: Alpha Futures runs AlphaTrader, TradingView, WealthCharts, Quantower, and DeepChart. Do not assume a desktop you used at another firm is on the platforms list.
Zero is the clean path if you do not want a surprise unlock fee. You still budget the month.
Who should pick which plan
- Zero if you want $0 activation, no consistency rule on the evaluation, and you can live with Daily Loss Guard plus 40% consistency once qualified.
- Standard if that rule set matches how you trade and the live monthly fee fits. Read the Standard post. Do not guess from an old Premium table.
- Advanced if you want the $15,000 request cap and no Daily Loss Guard, and you accept the higher monthly fee at the same account size.
- Direct if you want to skip the evaluation and you understand the withdrawal profit target and 20% consistency rule.
None of these is free. No activation is one line on the invoice.
FAQ
What is an activation fee at a futures prop firm?
A one-time charge after you pass the evaluation, used to open the Qualified Account. It is separate from the monthly evaluation fee.
Does Alpha Futures have no activation fee?
Purchases after 8 July 2026 do not require an activation fee. Zero was already $0 activation. The help centre still records a $149 activation fee for Advanced accounts bought before that announcement. Confirm on How it works at checkout.
Is no activation the same as the cheapest prop firm?
No. Cheapest is the total cost: monthly fees, resets, and how long you stay. No activation means one fee is missing. Use the cheapest futures prop firm guide for that comparison.
Do I still pay a monthly fee on Zero?
Yes. Zero is $0 activation plus a published monthly evaluation fee: $89, $139, or $279 a month at full price for 25K, 50K, and 100K. It is not a $0 subscription.
What about Direct?
Direct is a one-time purchase into a Qualified Account. You skip the evaluation. That fee is the product, not an activation charge after you pass, and there is no monthly evaluation subscription on Direct.
Are these real-money accounts?
No. Evaluations and Qualified Accounts use simulated funds in a simulated trading environment. Simulated results do not reflect real trading outcomes. A performance fee is the real-money amount you may request on eligible simulated results, and it is not guaranteed.
