TL;DR: Alpha Futures is open to traders in Canada. You can buy a one-step futures evaluation on Zero, Standard, or Advanced, or skip the evaluation with Direct. The loss limit is end-of-day trailing, and it can still be hit during the session. The US cash open is morning local time, so you are not night-trading the Nasdaq open the way traders in Europe and Australia often are.
Quick answer: Canada is not on the Alpha Futures restricted list. Trade CME products such as MES and MNQ on a USD simulated account. In early October the 9:30 a.m. New York open is 9:30 a.m. in Toronto, 7:30 a.m. in Calgary, and 6:30 a.m. in Vancouver.
If you are comparing futures prop firms from Canada, the country question is settled first. The session question is easy compared with overseas desks. Nasdaq and S&P futures are busiest at the US cash open, and that open is a weekday morning across Canada.
Evaluations use simulated funds. Performance fees are performance-based. Outcomes are not guaranteed. Prices below match the live cards on 2 October 2026. Recheck them at checkout.
Is Canada on the Alpha Futures restricted list?
Alpha Futures serves more than 150 countries and publishes a restricted list. Canada is not on that list. You still need to be a resident or citizen of a non-restricted country, and you cannot trade while you are visiting a restricted country. Cuba and Jamaica are on that list, which matters if you travel there with an open account.
Sign up in your own name, complete KYC with a government photo ID and a selfie, and do it without a VPN. A "$50K account" is a $50K simulated account in USD, not a CAD brokerage balance.
Is the Nasdaq open a morning session or a night session in Canada?
These times are for early October 2026. The US and most of Canada are on daylight time until early November. Saskatchewan stays on Central Standard Time all year, so Regina is one hour behind Winnipeg while daylight saving is on.
| US session | Toronto / Montreal | Winnipeg | Calgary | Vancouver | Halifax |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Equity open, 9:30 a.m. Eastern | 9:30 a.m. | 8:30 a.m. | 7:30 a.m. | 6:30 a.m. | 10:30 a.m. |
| Typical cash-session wind-down, 4:00 p.m. Eastern | 4:00 p.m. | 3:00 p.m. | 2:00 p.m. | 1:00 p.m. | 5:00 p.m. |
East-coast traders can sit the open at the start of the workday. West-coast traders get it before a normal office start. That is a morning session, not an all-nighter. If you only have the first hour, size for that hour.
MNQ and MES are the practical contracts for a first evaluation. A full NQ or ES mini is a large unit into the open. The contract comparison is in micro vs mini futures. You do not need $25,000 of your own capital to day trade these simulated accounts. That rule belongs to many live US stock accounts, which is covered in do you need $25K to day trade futures.
Zero, Standard, Advanced, or Direct: which plan fits a morning NQ open?
| Plan | Price from | Profit target | EOD MLL | Daily Loss Guard | Consistency on the evaluation |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zero $25K | $89/month | $1,500 | $1,000 | $500 | None |
| Zero $50K | $139/month | $3,000 | $2,000 | $1,000 | None |
| Standard $50K | $129/month | $3,000 | $2,000 | None on the evaluation | 50% |
| Advanced $50K | $209/month | $4,000 | $1,750 | None | 40% |
| Advanced $100K | $349/month | $8,000 | $3,500 | None | 40% |
Zero if this is your first futures evaluation and you want no consistency rule while you pass. The Daily Loss Guard will flatten you and lock the day if the session loss hits the cap. Zero $25K allows 1 mini or 10 micros.
Standard if you want no Daily Loss Guard on the evaluation and you can live with a 50% consistency rule until you pass. Qualified Standard accounts use 40% consistency on performance fee requests.
Advanced if you want no Daily Loss Guard at either stage and a performance fee request cap of $15,000. The evaluation consistency rule is 40%. There is no consistency rule once you are qualified.
Direct if you want to skip the evaluation and start on a Qualified Account for a one-time fee. You need the withdrawal profit target and a 20% consistency rule before a request.
Zero, Standard, and Advanced have no activation fee on current purchases. The cost breakdown is in prop firms with no activation fee. Charting on TradingView, where the account offers it, is in TradingView on Alpha Futures.
If NQ runs up and you give it back, does the loss limit move with it?
Every plan uses an end-of-day trailing Maximum Loss Limit. The floor updates from the closing balance, not from the best unrealised profit of the morning. It only trails up, and it stops once it reaches the starting balance.
You can still fail during the session. If floating equity or the closed balance hits the active limit, the account is liquidated then. It does not wait for the close. On Zero, the Daily Loss Guard is a separate soft lock: it ends your day, and it does not by itself fail the account.
That difference is the whole point of EOD trailing drawdown vs intraday drawdown. A give-back into the cash open does not ratchet the floor up. A give-back through the current floor still closes you.
The wider rule set is in futures prop firm rules explained.
How many winning days do Canadians need before a performance fee?
Qualified Traders on Zero, Standard, and Advanced can request a performance fee up to 4 times a month, after 5 winning days of $200 or more. The split on these plans is 90%. Requests are in USD. Direct uses its own profit target and the 20% consistency rule instead of the 5 winning days.
Nothing here is a salary, and nothing is guaranteed because you live in Canada.
Frequently asked questions
Can Canadians join Alpha Futures?
Yes. Canada is not on the restricted-country list. You must complete KYC in your own name, and you must not trade while visiting a restricted country.
What time does the Nasdaq open in Toronto and Vancouver?
In early October, 9:30 a.m. US Eastern is 9:30 a.m. in Toronto and Montreal, 7:30 a.m. in Calgary, 6:30 a.m. in Vancouver, and 10:30 a.m. in Halifax. Recheck after daylight saving ends in November.
Which plan is the sane first buy?
Zero $25K. No consistency rule on the evaluation, a $500 Daily Loss Guard, and a 10-micro cap. That is the right size for the cash open.
Does the drawdown trail during the trade?
No. The Maximum Loss Limit trails from the end-of-day balance. Equity can still breach the current limit while the trade is open.
